The United States imported 13.46 million kilos from India, up from 12.06 million kilograms in the previous fiscal year, while the United Kingdom imported 10.15 million kilograms.

The value of exports in the previous fiscal year was Rs 5,415.78 crore, up from Rs 5,311.53 crore in the previous fiscal year.

According to tea industry sources, the minor drop in the tea export data was caused by a scarcity of shipping containers and expensive ocean freight.

The Tea Board has set a lofty goal of 300 million kilos by 2025.

Tea Manufacturing and Trade

Tea manufacturing necessitates a high level of attention to detail and workmanship. The freshly picked leaves are treated with care and gentleness. every step of the way. This is labor-intensive, time-consuming, and hence It is costly, but it is the only method to pass on all of the delicate scents and unique characteristics of the tea plant to the final tea.

Black tea, green tea, and oolong tea are the three varieties of tea that are manufactured.

The most common tea in the world is black tea, which comes in two varieties: traditional Orthodox (leaf) tea and modern CTC (granular) tea. Green tea and oolong tea are the next most popular.

Leaf Tea, Broken Tea, Fannings, and Dust are the four sieved qualities of tea produced.

On the packet of a good tea, you'll notice intriguing abbreviations in addition to these descriptions. These letters are essentially more extensive explanations of the sieve result and have nothing to do with the character or flavor (leaf grade designation).

Different types of tea are available in India:

ASSAM: Let us begin in Assam, India's far northeasternmost state, where the great Brahmaputra flows. The tea plantations, which are located between 300 and 800 meters above sea level on both sides of the river, make up the world's largest growing area. The tea has a rich, full-bodied beverage due to the humid, tropical environment. The first flush, which occurs between the end of April and the beginning of May, has a rich and fresh scent, while the second flush, which occurs between the middle of May and the end of June, yields the famed Tippy Orthodox Teas. Tippy tea is black tea with gold tips or leaves that appear to be golden in colour.

Assam tea has a golden tip that helps to reduce astringency. Assam tea has a golden tip that reduces the astringency of the tea, making it sweeter and smoother. Tea lovers who appreciate full-bodied, malty, and sour teas with sugar crystals and cream will enjoy Assam teas.

The Dooars' growing lands are just next door. Lowland varietals thrive here, producing teas with a lot of body and black colour.

DARJEELING: Darjeeling is a subtropical hill resort in northern India and the home of some of the world's most beautiful teas. Even at a height of 2,100 meters, the tea gardens appear to be nailed to the Himalayan hills. The constant transition between dry and humid air, chilly breezes and intense sun, rising mists, and monsoon rains gives Darjeeling tea its distinctive scent and floral beauty. Spring Darjeeling (harvested at the first plucking between March and April) is very popular among connoisseurs.

You'll understand why Darjeeling teas are so well-known after you try one. Enjoy the gentle, delicately floral spring plucking, the very fragrant second flush, or the superb quality 'Autumnals' that bloom in fall with a little bigger leaves.
